Crash Stat Facts
One of Council's first exercises was to dig into the motorcyclist injury statistics, and figure out what they actually mean. Our goal is to clear the considerable confusion around crash statistics, and make sure we have a factual and rational understanding of the issues around the rising human and financial toll from motorcyclist injuries.
We've tackled these key questions in a 4-part series:
- Part 1: Are Kiwi motorcyclists having more accidents?
- Part 2: Exactly how much more risk is involved in riding a bike than driving a car, and has that risk increased? Read Parts 1 and 2.
- Part 3: How likely are we to make an ACC claim as the result of having an on-road motorcycle accident, and has that changed of late? Read Part 3.
- Do motorcyclist injury claims really cost ACC so much more than other vehicle injury claims?
Read Part 4.
